Abernethy Healthy Lifestyle Association Incorporated was formed to improve the health of people in our area by co-ordinating opportunities and the provision of infrastructure that will help prevent diseases related to physical inactivity. Our most ambitious project was raising money for a shared footpath/bikeway connecting Abernethy to the neighbouring village so that we can walk or ride bikes for health SAFELY to school and our shop & services. Now we hope to spend the money on exercise equipment in our local park.

CURRENTLY DOING

Walk Clubs

 - Abernethy Morning Walk -  Mon, Wed, Fri at 8:40am (Cnr Murray & Munro Sts)

 - Other times by circumstance and demand (see HOME page).


By Arrangement - Cycling ("Push-thru-the-bush") NOT IN THE RAIN

· 7am Every Wed (The Park), 

· 1st Sundays of the month 7am  (The  Park).


Other Sport - Occasional Tennis Nights, Bike riding for school sport (on & off), Active After-school Communities program (on & off Kearsley Public School) 

Contacts with nearby Soccer / Cricket / Tennis clubs. : Just ask!


Raising Money :

Grants and fun-raising for healthy infrastructure eg Park Exercise Equipment. 


Advocating :

Health Strategy, Major Road Projects, Land Management Strategies, Council Cycleway Strategy, Trails Strategy : We have made or are keen to make various submissions to make sure our needs and other healthy opportunities are understood and planned for.

Efficacy of local incentives.

Creating local, outdoor, active ventures to add incentive for infrastructure.
